Working It Out

Working It Out is our flagship youth programme which supports vulnerable 16-24 year olds into work across England and Scotland. The programme runs in 16-week cycles and supports vulnerable young people facing multiple barriers to employment.

The programme is a mix of group activities and challenges in the community, as well as one-to-one mentoring. The emphasis is on personalised planning and finding a job or training programme that is right for the individual.

The key steps in Working It Out are:

  • Identification of personal issues and support needs
  • Motivation and confidence building
  • Working together and team challenges in the community
  • Building leadership skills
  • Learning to communicate in the workplace
  • Introduction to partner organisations
  • Visiting the workplace and professional environments
  • Work experience
  • CV writing sessions
  • Interview training

Connect 2

Connect 2 is a collaborative programme between five third sector organisations, funded by the Big Lottery and Glasgow City Council. 

The programme is for 16 – 19 year old school leavers who need support in identifying their goals and planning a route into training, education or employment

Connect 2 is an eight week employability and social and personal development course. Input from all organisations enable the young people to experience different training provision throughout to help make an informed decision about their future.

This is achieved through teamwork, one to one support and action planning. Aftercare is provided for a minimum of a year to give the young people all the support needed to sustain their training and employment.

Job Matching

Job Matching works with individuals to come up with a bespoke plan of action to get them into employment.

This will include devising an achievable timetable and identifying key milestones. Our staff will work with clients to navigate whatever barriers they may face, including caring responsibilities, geographical location or having a criminal record.

Our Advisers work on a one-to-one basis to give in depth support to clients on their journey into work. This will include building up a CV and help with the job application process.

Our advisers have an up to date knowledge of the opportunities available in different industries and will match programme participants with the placement that is right for them.
