Work Programme

National Careers Service

Tomorrow’s People delivers the government’s National Careers Service in Bristol, Bath and Plymouth.  Since launching the programme in January 2015, our Employment Advisers have helped over 2,000 people.

We are working with participants both one-to-one and delivering work-focused workshops to help them find training programmes, develop their CVs, improve interview skills, gain basic skills and understand what employers are looking for locally.

We deliver the National Careers Service with a number of partners including, housing associations, training companies, community associations, charities and businesses.

Work Programme

The Work Programme is the Government’s major programme to support people who are long-term unemployed, or at risk of becoming so.

We are working with participants both one-to-one and delivering work-focused workshops to help them find training programmes, develop their CVs, improve interview skills, gain basic skills and understand what employers are looking for locally.

Now in its sixth year, the Work Programme is for people who need intensive support to find work, either because they have been out of work for a year, or they have other needs, for example, if they have been in prison. Participants will get the help that is right for them, for example one-to-one support, mentoring, vocational training, work placements and aftercare.

People can only be referred to the support Work Programme provides through Jobcentre Plus – a person cannot refer themselves. The Work Programme replaces previous welfare-to-work programmes such as the New Deal, Employment Zones and Flexible New Deal.
